Why I Drink, Part 2

While I was driving to New Jersey last night, I put on WNJN 101.5, a thoroughly miserable station that’s unfortunately the best source for traffic reports in that benighted state. The Casey and Rossi show was on, and if you’ve ever wondered what it would be like if two steaming turds could talk and put on a show, I STILL don’t recommend tuning in, because the show put on by actual turds would be better than the garbage that spews from these two.

Anyway, their story of the day was about some family whose daughter was murdered, offered a $300,000 reward for the killer’s capture, and then refused to pay when a tip led to the perp’s arrest. I can’t find the link online, sorry.

Anyway, Casey was rambling that, if the family isn’t forced to pay, a lot of people will think twice about giving tips to the cops if they’re not sure the reward will come through. “Because,” he said, “that’s the kind of world we live in.”

Yeah, if you’re a sociopath. Here in REALITY, people give tips to the police out of altruism, out of concern for the victims, out of concern for their own safety. And you can see that in Philadelphia with the manhunt for the Kensington strangler or the way the community caught the guy who raped an 11 year old girl a year or so ago.

While I’m disgusted by the idea that people’s willingness to help a crime victim (or really anyone in need) would be motivated by financial remuneration, I am not surprised to hear the notion belch out of some idiot right winger’s mouth. It only lends more evidence to my hypothesis (long since proved, by the way) that right wingers are sociopaths who would sell their own mothers into prostitution if the price was high enough. This is a political philosophy that is motivated primarily by “what’s in it for ME?” They are literally incapable of empathy or putting anyone before themselves. They are mentally ill.
