Noted War Criminal Donald Rumsfeld to be Celebrated, Honored at US Constitution Center

Why not re-animate Hitler, Pol Pot, and Pinochet and invite them while you’re at it?

Rumsfeld, of course, is former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, who will appear at the National Constitution Center on Feb. 9, as the first stop on a national book tour for Known and Unknown, his soon-to-be published memoir.

The choice of title suggests something Rumsfeld does know: that notwithstanding a decades-long career in public service that began during the Eisenhower years, what he will be remembered for are the five years, from 2001-2006, that he served as President George W. Bush’s first Secretary of Defense, a tenure that spanned the 9/11 terrorist attacks and launching the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The US Constitution Center wants your questions, so register (it’s free) and ask away!

For instance, if you’d like to know if he’s grateful that the lawsuit against him fizzeled outm ask away!

Or maybe you’d like to know if we ever found the WMD that Rumsfeld said were “in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south, and north somewhat”, ask away.

Maybe you’d like to know Rumsfeld’s reflections on being a war criminal honored by the US Constitution Center, and whether he feels like he’s getting away with something. Maybe you’d like to know how Rumsfeld sees himself as different from other mass murderers. Or if he personally tortured people. Or how he feels about being disowned by his European relatives, and the prospect of facing war crimes hearings if he ever sets foot in Europe again.

Personally, i have some questions for the Constitution Center, starting with “do you have any shame?” and continuing to “who, in your opinion, is too despised and discredited to be honored at the center?” Seriously, why not invite Jared Laughner to discuss the Second Amendment or Karl Rove to present on the problem of voter disenfranchisement? Maybe Michael Vick can opine on pet ownership. Would it be better for the audience to come bearing rotten tomatoes, or would the best response be for Donald to speak to an empty room?

Too bad Idi Amin’s dead: the Constitution Center could have him host a cooking show.
