Delco Nightingale at the World Cafe Live: Thursday 10/14

Philadelphia, bass, pop, pop culture, youtube October 13th, 2010

Earlier this year, a friend clued me into band called Delco Nightingale which was in need of a bass player. I got in touch with them, but given that I was already busy with The Super Devils, it kind of petered out. But we remained friends, and we’re all linked up on the facebook and shit, and that’s where this story begins.

Although they haven’t had a full-time bassist in awhile, Delco’s been pretty busy with various substitutes doing some great gigs, including Heavy Rebel Weekender. But yesterday, two days before a gig opening for the pretty-damned legendary Southern Culture on the Skids at the pretty-damned-prestigious World Cafe Live, their sub bass player up and quit. Delco was planning on canceling, which is when I offered to take the job and they gave me a shot. I’m learning about 10-12 songs in a little less than 48 hours (which is one of the reasons I hate my neighbor’s insane screaming grandson right now). I’m about halfway there, with more tonight.

These are not easy songs, but I think I’m up to the task. So come on out and check us out: I’ll be the sharp dressed fella slapping the bass. You’ll have a good time and feel all sorts of classy. Tickets available at the link.
