New Sympathy for Castle Laws

I’ve been critical of castle laws in the past:

In the last year, 15 states have enacted laws that expand the right of self-defense, allowing crime victims to use deadly force in situations that might formerly have subjected them to prosecution for murder.

Supporters call them “stand your ground” laws. Opponents call them “shoot first” laws.

Floridians call it Title XLVI, Chapter 776.

however, in light of a number of disturbing articles i’m reading about banks sending thugs to break into houses that aren’t in forclosure (and which in some cases they don’t even own), i am beginning to have a bit of sympathy for those laws.

Via Susie, Rep. Alan Grayson explains that Florida is ground zero for mortgage fraud, so here is my advice to residents of the Sunshine State:

Arm yourself and if you hear someone trying to change the locks of break into the house, exercise your legal right to shoot first.
