Good For You, Pal, But not Enough
Confessed killer apologizes to Cassidy’s widow:
Testimony ended in dramatic fashion today in the murder trial of John “Jordan” Lewis when the confessed killer apologized to the widow of Philadelphia Police Officer Chuck Cassidy.
Judy Cassidy was testifying about her husband’s last hours before he was shot on Oct. 31, 2007, while Lewis — who pleaded guilty on the trial’s first day to to murder and six armed robberies — hung his head.
As her testimony was ending, the 23-year-old defendant took his glasses off, tears running down his cheeks, and said, “I apologize, Mrs. Cassidy.”
The Cassidy’s, in tears, left the courtroom and Lewis, also distraught was taken back to a holding cell.
Good for you dude. Good for you and your apology. But “I’m sorry” just isn’t enough when you leave 3 kids without a dad.
I don’t support the death penalty: it ends the torment of incarceration for those who deserve punishment, without providing a way to freedom for those who have been unjustly imprisoned.
So I hope you enjoy the rest of your life in jail, asshole.
