Also Some Blacks Still Upset About Slavery
From the pro-life movement, an item of note:
The slaying of a Kansas abortion doctor put the anti-abortion movement on the defensive Monday with prominent leaders delicately distancing themselves from the accused killer while positioning their stand as one shared by a majority of Americans.
Already reeling from the failure to dominate last year’s election and worried their cause won’t be at the center of the hearings on President Obama’s first Supreme Court nominee, anti-abortion leaders feared that backlash from George Tiller’s death could temporarily silence the abortion debate.
“In the immediate future, it makes it difficult to even speak about an issue we’ve been speaking about for 365 days a year,” said Mary Kay Culp, executive director of Kansans for Life. “Anything you say — somebody is going to pounce on us.”
Isn’t that weird? One of the pro-life people committed a horrific act of violence, another in a long histroy of bombing clinics and killing doctors, and they’re worried that no one willwant to engage in a civil discussion with them anymore. I wonder why that would be?
I’ve also been SOOOO confused about black people. Did you know that some black people harbor suspicion and resentment against white people, all because of that whole “300 years of slavery, breaking up families, and destroying their cultures” thing. I know, it’s TOTALLY CRAZY and I don’t understand it at all.
Same with the Armenians, who apparently have an issue with being slaughtered by the Turks. WTF people???
True story: I was in Holland back in 2001 for an international pop festival. Our host Maurice was giving us an orientation to Amsterdam and explained that if anyone got lost, most Dutch people speak English. “If you want to try your hand at Dutch, you are welcome to!” he said. “You will find that it’s a lot like English. One thing though: if you can’t remember your Dutch, do NOT substitute German.”
“Why not?” said a guy from one of the other bands, an American like the rest of us. Maurice just looked at him for a moment, silently cocking an eyebrow.
“What? I don’t get i— OHHHHHH!” said the guy. Pause. “Are you all STILL angry about that whole thing?”
I feel exactly like Maurice must have felt when I see the pro-life doctor killing squad give the world the Bambi doe-eyed look and wonder why-oh-why no one wants to debate anything at all with them.
Cus you know, killing people kinda puts the kibosh on any potential for “debate”.
idiots.
