Portrait of the Artist with Upright Bass

Philadelphia, old time, photoblog March 9th, 2009

If you’re wondering what happened to the bass case I was going to buy with my mom’s christmas money, all that paid for a hotel room in Quebec, where I had to travel to make sure my kid could get his citizenship and a passport.

Maybe next year… or maybe someone will paypal me the money.

You should let me try to take some pictures of you.

My brother started playing the bass in the fifth grade. I can remember watching him carry it up the staircase at school, from the music room to the storage room. It was a good thing he had long skinny arms. He is an orchestra teacher for the Houston public schools now. I guess once you start to play the upright, it just gets under your skin. No matter how difficult it is to haul around.

That’s also his excuse for having to drive a dorky van.
