Council Needs to Stand Up
One of the most discouraging comments i have heard during this whole brouhaha over the fate of our libraries was when Jannie Blackwell’s office told me they had no plans to block the mayor. Anna Verna echoed those comments.
Why are you in City Council, drawing more than $100 thousand dollar salaries, if you’re not there to represent the interest of your neighborhoods? there are plenty of jobs in the private sector where you could make even more money and probably do just as little.
It’s clear the Mayor has decided that he has to kill the patient to save it. But last time a misguided Mayor tried this, Council stopped him. where are you City Council? Why are you ceding the fight to the clergy, who are doing a lot more than you? Are you scared of Michael Nutter? Are you afraid he’ll yell at you?
