More on L&I
Ray has more on L&I, the city department that does a bang up job of shutting businesses and persecuting political undesirables, but can’t seem to deliver $20 million to $30 million in delinquent fines.
it took weeks, if not months, via many phone calls and even trips downtown to various city offices, getting bounced up and down Broad Street from one office to the next, just trying to get a copy of the report which would surely display numerous safety violations.
Want to know how long it took before I finally got that report? Well, I wrote this piece on my then-slumlord in October of 2005. It wasn’t long after that before I actually did contact L&I and had them come out to do a full sweep of our apartment, the basement and the entire property grounds.
Yet according to L&I in all the follow-up I did during that time, when I finally did get to speak to someone, I was told there was no report. That one was never even done, or filed, despite the fact that I had a case ID # to go along with the report.
Why are we losing our libraries, fire engines, and pools?
