Nutter Fast Tracks Verizon Agreement, Libraries Left in the Dust
Nutter does a solid for $25 billion dollar Verizon:
Mayor Nutter appears to have fast-tracked a proposed 15-year video franchise agreement with Verizon Communications Inc., which will be the subject of a Philadelphia City Council holding meeting today at 3 p.m.
The agreement will open the city to pay-TV and Internet competition between Verizon’s FiOS division and Comcast Corp., which is headquartered in Center City.
More goodies for Verizon, but not a word on how he’s going to find funding for the libraries. That’s a Mayor who knows his priorities: too bad those priorities are better suited for a corporate CEO than the Mayor of a suffering city facing calamity.
Ah well, who need to learn how to read anyway when verizon’s got that awesome fiber-optic TV? All the better to see the dimples of fat on your favorite “Biggest loser” contestant.
