Who Objects to Spreading Wealth Around (Other than the Very Very Rich)?
Over at the Drudge Report, the closeted angry gay man is flogging “proof” of Obama’s wealth-redistributing passion:
I have a question. Who, other than the very very rich (who’ve already benefited from the upward redistribution of wealth), objects to spreading the wealth?
Yesterday, for example, the New York Times published a long piece on businesses forced to slash jobs: does the GOP think small business owners and their laid-off employees don’t like the idea of more money in their pocket?
Or the enormous population of Americans who need to use their credit card to makes ends meet: does the GOP really think these working- and middle-class families object to the idea of a larger piece of the pie?
Ordinary Americans pay more for food and for gasoline, while compnaies like Exxon reap billions from our misery. You think the REAL Joe the Plumber cares about “spreading the wealth”? he sure does: into his own pocket, just like the rest of us.
See, this whole “spread the wealth” tactic only works when people don’t feel poor themselves. Every single person I know, including more than a few right wing dingalings, is working harder than ever for less than ever.
Obama’s gonna spread the wealth around? Good: we working-class and middle-class people want a taste of the pie too. Bring on the pie!
