MCKKKAIN’S DYING CAMPAIGN
Via TPM, a shockingly stark discussion between Brian Williams and Chuck Todd of NBC, discussing a yet-to-be-aired interview with McKKKain-Palin.
Frankly, it reads like an obituary, I was especially interested in Williams’ point about Colin Powell’s appearance this weekend on Meet the Press:
“On one side, on the GOP ticket, you have what has just become a colossal story: and it was all encapsulated in the seven-minute soliloquy that Colin Powell delivered on Meet the Press.
I feel I owe Tim Kelly props for seeing a dynamic that I missed in Powell’s endorsement. You were right Tim: it is important. Powell seems to have obliterated McKKKain’s narrative on MTP. Indeed, on reflection the endorsement kind of fits the Powell Doctrine of going in with overwhelming force:
Is a vital national security interest threatened? Do we have a clear, attainable objective? Have the risks and costs been fully and frankly analysed? Have all other non-violent policy means been exhausted? Is there a plausible exit strategy? Have the consequences been fully considered? Is the action supported by the American people?
I would say the threat a Palin-McKKKain presidency poses to our country passes meets all those preconditions.
