Let’s Play The Bill Ayers Game!

Inspired by a C&L link over at atrios (who gets enough linkage as it is)

One of the favorite tactics right-wing racist republican haters like to play is a game called “Guilt By Association”, or GBA for short. It goes like this:

Barack Obama sat on a board of directors with Bill Ayers, a rehabilitated criminal who 40 years ago committed violent crimes against the state. Therefore, Barack Obama espouses the same beliefs as Bill Ayers did 40 years ago.

The key to the game is to omit any references to context. Thus, we never hear that Mr. Ayers is rehabilitated, that he sits on the same board with noted Republicans like Walter Annenberg’s wife, or anything like that. Nor do we hear that Obama was 8 years old when these crimes were committed.

I could play the same game on some of my friends and neighbors here in Philly, many of who attended Catholic schools while many priests were busily sodomizing and raping young children. By the rules of GBA, many Philadelphians could be accused of palling around with child molestors.

I bring this up because it makes me feel fresh as a spring morning to see star conservative douche/GOP parrot Sean Hannity, a race-baiting lying sack of lies (and a coward), and the human equivalent of an e. coli infection, get so thoroughly beaten at his own game by someone who points out Sean’s very real associations with neo-Nazi Hal Turner. I just waned to share that with you. It’s a beautiful thing.

That’s the face of the modern GOP: a snide, angry man with a persecution complex who yells at clouds. If it wasn’t blacks, it’d be gay people. If not gay people, then feminists. If not feminists, then… It’s a never-ending litany of grievances with the world, which is passing by cavemen like Hannity and the remainder of the GOP like a brand new Camaro blows the doors of a broken down Model T.
