The Reign in Spain and John McCain

Forget that the rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain. More important is that it’s plain that McCain doesn’t know who reigns in Spain.

You think I’m kidding? Both Talking Points Memo and Americablog link to a recent interview with Spanish TV, in which John McCain loses the plot, forgets where Spain is, and who runs that European country.

If the link below works, you can hear him not only start talking about Mexico, but forgetting the name of Spain’s prime minister Zapatero. It’s frightening.

John McCain didn’t appear to know that Spain was in Europe, or that the leader of Spain was named Zapatero, even after he was told that Zapatero was the leader of Spain.

When asked about Spain and Zapatero, by a Spanish reporter for a Spanish newspaper, McCain responded about Mexico and Latin America. A reader suggested something that Josh had already considered, that perhaps McCain thought the reporter was talking about the Zapatistas in Mexico, the guerilla group. But that’s not possible as the reporter clearly said she was talking about Spain and Spain’s leader, Zapatero. She told McCain this twice.

Is John McCain senile? And is Sarah Palin the kind of person you want in the Dick Cheney seat?

“So Sambo beat the bitch!”

This is how Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin described Barack Obama’s win over Hillary Clinton to political colleagues in a restaurant a few days after Obama locked up the Democratic Party presidential nomination.

Vote Democratic!
