Palin was Mayor starting in 1996 to 2002. Before that, there was no approved EC, just off-label use of high doses of contraceptives. In addition, rape kits and EC are associated in people's minds because they're often used by the same hospital workers, but the kits themselves are just evidence collection tools. A friend of mine who is an <a href="http://mithras.blogs.com/blog/2008/09/palin-and-rape.html" rel="nofollow">expert </a> on this doesn't believe the EC-is-abortion angle on Palin. Getting our facts wrong on this runs the risk that the right wing will be able to cover up the whole thing. Let's be careful to get it right. It bad enough that she <i>charged rape victims to collect evidence</i>? I'd say that's pretty fucking bad.
