Gauntlet

Tomorrow I leave to go pick up Sam, again an extended trip across the border, and then back about to Benton, PA for the Out Among the Stars Bluegrass Festival. The trip across the border adds an extra three hours round trip to the already-brutal eight hours I travel to Syracuse and back, but the OATS Fest is going to be such a sweet reward.

I spent a lot of the day packing: the perishables are in the fridge waiting for the cooler in the morning, while the dry goods, my pack, and the cooking utensils are sitting by the front door. Tomorrow around 5:30, I’ll be stuffing cramming that pile into the wagon, along with my bass and my guitar. Meanwhile, Sam’s booster seat is set up, the oil’s been changed, and the camping gear is stowed away.

In another twenty minutes, we’re going to keg the homebrew, and head out for a happy hour beer at Abbraccio.

It’s probably going to be pretty light blogging for the next few days, so have a happy Fourth of July (and don’t forget to call your Senator about FISA.

Have a great weekend! The festival sounds like fun and you get to spend it with your son, what a bonus. We plan on taking a family bike ride along the KATY trail, twenty miles a day or so. Maybe end up in Hermann, Missouri. It’s an old German town with great wineries along the bluffs of the Missouri River. We plan on towing the dog (Dachshund) in a little trailer behind one of the bikes. He loves to ride. I hope the weather is good for all, and lets get lots of rest for the FISA fight next week.
