Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer
I was riding my bike into work this morning, when this song ended up in my head:
…and now it’s in yours.
Back in Newport in the late 1970s, my mom kept the radio tuned to 1540 WADK (my pal Tim’s dad Rick still does an Irish music show on the station). They played all sorts of dreck, including a garden show that opened with John Denver’s execrable “Garden Song” (Inch by inch/ row by row/ Gonna make this garden grow/all it takes is a rake and hoe/and a piece of fertile ground…).
But it’s the Lazy Hazy Crazy Days that’s really stuck in my head this morning, probably because it was so hot and hazy this morning.
