An Open Letter to Michael Gerson, Child-Killer
Dear Mr. Gerson:
I initally sent this letter to the address you make available at the Washington Post, michaelgerson@cfr.org, but since your secretary answered in your stead, I felt it would better to publish it openly. However, I do understand your reluctance to reply: I wouldn’t want to respond to anything that accurately pointed out my role in the deaths of thousands either. Of course, I have integrity and had I been involved in something like that, I’d commit suicide out of shame and repentance. But then again, I have a conscience and a soul, which you are clearly lacking.
I gather you are concerned about Al Franken’s “vulgar” humor. Would you like to know what’s REALLY vulgar?
Presiding over a war based on lies that has killed thousands. Poisoning soldiers with depleted uranium munitions. Failing to provide adequate body armor for our troops. Torturing prisoners and detainees, and twisting the law to evade accountability for war crimes.
THAT’S what’s really vulgar Mr. Gerson, and you played no small role in helping all of this happen.
Maybe it’s time for you to shut your fucking pie hole (pardon the vulgarity) and stop telling other people what’s vulgar and what’s not. Maybe you should think about your own sins instead of casting stones at other people.
I’ve attached a photo of what “vulgar” really looks like: as you may imagine it’s one of the results of the fabulous war that was supposed to be over in 6 months and pay for itself through oil revenues.
The war about which your former boss told Pat Robertson “There won’t be any casualties”. The war you helped sell with your warnings of “mushroom clouds” and “axis of evil”: I’m sure those coming home with their faces shot off, missing legs and arms and genitals and sanity can tell you a good deal about vulgarity, none of it having to do with Al Franken’s comedy.
That’s what vulgar is Mr. Gerson. What’s also vulgar is watching someone like you, responsible for the deaths of so many, sit around on your perch at the Washington Post and pontificate about the morals of others: it’s sickening.
By the way, Franken’s a USO performer: how many times have YOU entertained the troops you helped send off to war, Mr. Gerson?
