Credit Where Credit is Due

blogs, criticism, writing June 2nd, 2008

My brother has dogged Larry Johnson days and days and days on end. Relentless!

So why is his scoop being attributed 100% to Booman Tribune?

Don’t get me wrong: I’m psyched that BMT, whose publisher is a good friend of mine, points out the mendacity and clownishness of the now thoroughly discredited team of Larry and Susan. And I’m certainly not suggesting that he’s in any way trying to take credit for my brothers’ week of tormenting the No Quarter clown show: Booman does tons of good work and analysis, and probably doesn’t visit Ray’s place all that often. Same with the gang at the All Spin Zone, who are some of my dearest friends in Philadelphia.

Yet when I see Booman’s post highlighted at Daily Kos, Balloon Juice, and All Spin Zone, I wonder how my brother, who’s clearly been flogging this for some time, could have been overlooked by these much larger blogs. Ray’s such a good blogger, and way more consistent than I am (and his photography is just fantastic). Don’t ask me: even this guy agrees, and he’s a big shot lawyer or something. If you can’t trust a lawyer, who CAN you trust?

It just seems to me that a little credit is due. I thought blogtopia was supposed to be a bit more of a meritocracy than the mainstream media.

I thought I gave your brother due credit.

But only my two or three regular readers would know.

the blogosphere is rarely fair in giving credit where credit is due.
