Held to a Higher Standard (Or is That a Double Standard)?

So Eliott Spitzer was nailing a prostitute. Big deal.

David Vitter was doing the same thing, in diapers to boot, and it was brushed under the rug.
Larry Craig was trolling for blowjobs in bathrooms, and he’s still in the Senate.

Funny how it happens right when Spitzer starts going after the health insurance industry, isn’t it….

Amen, brother. When I heard about it, my first question was: “was he using public money to pay for it?” Of course not, but when it came to light that he’d dropped $80 grand over a period of several years on the ladies of the evening, the media started characterizing the whole thing as his “involvement in a prostitution ring.” Give me a fucking break. I shop at Whole Foods sometimes, but I’m not “involved” in their business.

And ditto on the whole republican comparison. Sure, he shouldn’t be spending all that money on prostitutes when he’s got a wife and children (pick a lane, buddy), not to mention that HE’S IN POLITICS… but I think democrats deserve more of a pass on this kind of thing than republicans, because they spend a hell of a lot less time being the morality and sex police than the republicans. Sleazy? Yes. Hypocritical? Not so much.
