I Don’t Need a Dogwhistle

Apparently, my colleagues in left blogistan are losing their shit over recent comments by Barack Obama that they perceive to be sexist.

The quote:

This is, I understand Senator Clinton periodically when she is feeling down launches attacks as a way of trying to boost her appeal. But I think this kind of gamesmanship is not what the American people are looking for. What they are looking for is ways to actually help send their kids to college or find a job or get health care and that is what we have stayed focused on in this race. And I think that is one of the reasons we have been doing pretty well over the last several weeks.

From Corrente:

’Cause you know how women are….

Driven by feelings…. Worried about their [sex] appeal… Prone to tears… The whole phases of the moon thing…

And did you catch the dogwhistle in “periodically”?

Now, putting aside the fact that the Clinton campaign HAS specifically decided to go negative to boost her ratings, reading “periodically” as a reference to the menstrual cycle is… well it’s totally INSANE and deliberately misinterprets the plain meaning of the word. The accusation is as unhinged as anything Michelle Malkin throws at the wall.

The Clinton campaign and their surrogates are grasping at straws, in my opinion. You don’t need dogwhistle politics to point out Clinton’s multitude of problems. Not when you have viral videos like this:

I rarely use the “left-wing dingalings” tag, but in this case, I think it fits.
