Pravda on the Potomac
It has been months since I took a look at the Bush-loving Washington Post. The op-ed page is just an embarrassment (with perhaps the lone exception of Gene Robinson), and the news section has (IMO) been on a downward spiral. My dad told me there was a good op-ed by Eliot Spitzer today, and I just swung by to read it.
I’d like to share my screen shot of this afternoon’s online edition:
Really? Is THAT what happened today?
Cus what I saw was the Republicans get called on their standard hissy fit behavior, while the Democrats FINALLY passed resolutions to begin contempt proceedings against Harriet Miers and Josh Bolton. I saw Steny Hoyer(!) of all people refuse to grab his ankles for Bush’s fear-mongering on FISA, and the distinct possibility of seeing the hideous “Protect America Act finally die.
“The President knows full well he has all the authority he needs… we understand the value of collecting intelligence… we know the Pres has the authority he needs to protect the American people… we have two concerns, one is retractive community… the other is exclusivity…”We have nothing to fear, but fear itself but the Pres has nothing to offer [the American people] BUT fear.”
“There is no urgency… and the reason that there is no urgency… we will not be presented with a bill on Tuesday night and expected to pass it (on Wednesday)…”
Take your “rebuke”, Washington Post, and shove it up your ass. And Dems, don’t back down and embarrass me again…
