Ed Rendell Puts His Foot In It Again
Good old Ed Rendell. First he calls Philadelphia City Council “gutless extortionists” for delaying the slots parlor plague he sees as the answer to Pennsie’s economic problems, and now he’s saying white Pennsylvanians “I think there are some whites who are probably not ready to vote for an African-American candidate.”
The gov’s a prominent supporter of Clinton of course. I sure liked him better when he was Mayor. Now I wish he’d just stuff a hoagie in his mouth and shut the fuck up before he further embarrasses us!

well, there probably are lots of americans who wouldn’t vote for a black man, but in my opinion, there’s more that wouldn’t vote for a woman.
just sayin’…rendell is a f’in tool, yes, but we don’t have to kill the messenger for this. what he said about the casinos though, yeah…fuck him.

A foot-long in the mouth is much better than a foot in the mouth?

Well, having moved here after Rendell’s “golden age,” I’ve never quite understood the cult-like devotion Philadelphians have to the guy.
Content/context aside, I have to give him props for the turn of phrase “gutless extortionists.” Nice one.
The racist “Clinton endorsement” is disgusting. In one of those “Philly moments” - a conversation with a stranger on the bus ride home yesterday - my new SEPTA friend and I were both sort of marveling about how truly refreshing it is that the whole racist/sexist thing really HASN’T been an issue in the democratic race. I mean, think about it - it IS pretty cool that here we are, with the two remaining candidates being a woman and a black man, that there’s almost no discussion about THAT - nearly all the coverage/debate is about either the issues or their childish bickering on the campaign trail.
It’s certainly more than I would have expected in today’s America — a sign of progress, at the very least.
