Harry Reid is Selling Out Your Fourth Amendment Rights

As I’ve said repeatedly, Harry Reid is a bad democrat, a corporate shill in AT&T’s pocket, a horrible Majority Leader, who is doing Bush’s bidding on Telecom Immunity.

And it’s not just because he’s weak: it’s deliberate. I’ve said it before, and I will say it again: Harry Reid is a Republican mole. When you look at his behavior on FISA, you need to look at it through the context of his other “principles”: he voted for war in Iraq; he’s pro-death penalty; pro-life; and did nothing to stop Alito. He is a MOLE.

Today, he’s bringing wiretapping legislation to the floor and giving Democrats two choices:

“Reid has set up a Catch-22 that forces senators to choose either no immunity for the telecoms or minimal Fourth Amendment protections – but not both at the same time. The ACLU is not ready to accept the two current options as the only possibilities. The American people should not have to choose between telecom immunity and warrantless wiretapping.”
[snip]
“Another way to think of it: S 2440 is good on immunity and bad on wiretapping while S. 2441 is bad on immunity but good on wiretapping. It looks as though Senator Reid has created two little FISA Frankensteins.”

This is deliberate, as Booman Tribune and Firedoglake clearly point out.

Call you Senators today: tell them to support the Judiciary version of the bill. Booman explains how:

I encourage you to call Harry Reid at 202-224-3542 and tell his office that you want the vote to be on the Judiciary bill and not as a substitute. But, please call your own senators, because it is they that have to be convinced. If Reid can show them the huge number of anti-immunity bill calls he is receiving, the threats to run ads against him, the threat to primary him in 2010, then he might be able to sway some of his frightened or pro-corporate colleagues. But a direct call to bad senators is just as good.

For the record, Harry’s numbers are TANKING in Nevada, and he’s looking vulnerable for 2010.

Call Harry Reid: 202-224-3542 and let him know you’re watching, and that if he violates our Fourth Amendment rights (and by God that’s exactly what telecom immunity does), that there will be Hell to pay.

Mole. Harry Reid is a stinking mole.
