Not Much Blogging These Days
A few people asked me last night at Drinking Liberally whether I’d been making phone calls or causing a ruckus over the decision to confirm Mukasey and put an official imprimatur on torture and the above-the-law presidency. I guess a few were disappointed that I haven’t.
The fact is, what more can one say when prominent Democrats like Charles Schumer, whose perch at the DSCC renders him practically invulnerable to a primary, endorse monsters like Mukasey? What else is there to say when your own party’s leaders have less integrity than your average sewer rat, and none of the tenacity?
I have very little to say in support of my party at this time, and I’m not exactly holding my breath for the defeat of warrantless wiretapping either. The Democrats will cave as they always do, and the American people will be that much less free because of the party’s corruption and apathy.
So no, I’m not writing much about politics right now: instead, I’m devoting what energy I have to writing about beer and bands. My son visits tomorrow. Maybe that’ll recharge my battery, but in all likelihood I’ll give even that much less of a shit about the fascists and fools in DC.
