“I Won’t Answer Your Questions

After reading Glenn Greenwald’s “What happened to the Senate’s
“60-vote requirement?”, I decided to make a call to our majority
leader’s office to inquire into this mysterious turn of events.

Surprise! Not only would no one give me an answer, they refused to transfer me to someone who could. As most of you know, I pester Arlen Specter’s office almost every day, but have NEVER had a problem being transferred to a legislative aide who can answer my questions. In fact, I’m waiting for a callback from his legislative aide that deals with energy to find out when we’ll get that cheap oil that we were supposed to be enjoying as a result of Iraq (which I have now received).

When I have called out-of-state senators, I have also typically been transferred to someone who could respond to any questions. Sometimes this has taken a little creativity on my part (”Why, I’m calling from Richmond, Virginia, why do you ask?”), but I have never been denied a basic response to an honest question.

In Harry Reid’s case, I was told that even if I called back and gave a Nevada zip-code, I would receive a letter only: no one in the office is available to respond to calls from constituents. When I called back a second time, later this afternoon, and asked how it came to be that the Mukasey vote came up so late at night and with such short notice, I was told “I won’t answer your questions.”

It is amazing to me, as well as deeply troubling and offensive, that the office of the Majority Leader refuses to answer a question from a member of his own party. It also says a lot about why the leadership is so deeply out of touch with their base, and why they have so miserably failed to accomplish the job we sent them to do.

In another era, they would have been called quislings, Vichy, and collaborators. And in fact that is EXACTLY what people like Harry Reid and Charles Schumer are: collaborators with a criminal regime that should have never been installed.

There is no excuse for this kind of behavior. The only explanation is that the Democrat Leadership wants to continue the criminal enterprise, and worse, wants to exercise those same criminal powers themselves.

I know one thing is for certain: I am only funding primary challengers from now on. I am not contributing any incumbents. And I am going to do everything I possibly can to ruin the electoral chances of the swine that currently hold power.

Decent people everywhere should be meeting these pigs with jeers, rotten tomatoes, and hardboiled eggs.

[...] The only time the phones actually give a busy signal is when they have been deliberately left off the hook. Charles Schumer’s office does this whenever he’s making an unpopular vote. harry reid’s office simply refuses to answer questions. [...]
