FISA Update
Joe Biden, Russ Feingold, and Barack Obama are supporting Chris Dodd’s efforts to stop the telecoms from gaining ex post facto amnesty for their illegal activities in helping the Bush administration to spy on Americans, a project that began 7 months before September 11. And now Governor Bill Richardson has spoken out in favor of Dodd. Where is Clinton? Where is Edwards?
You can help Chris Dodd here. Yes, yes, I know I should be cynical about the whole thing, but Dodd is actually taking action to stop a clear violation of our Fourth Amendment right. The President has no business violating this clause of our national contract, and the Senate has no right to give it to him should he demand it, especially not for the pathetic sum of some hundreds of thousands of dollars. People died for those rights we enjoy. They’re not negotiable.
Anyone in the Senate who doesn’t support Dodd, including Republicans, is nothing more than a fascist and a whore, but less honest about it. And that starts with Senator Jay Rockefeller.
