DemocRAT Party Condemns MoveOn

cash finger

The Republicans are right to call my party the Democrat Party: after seeing the despicable tally of votes to condemn MoveOn (more votes to condemn a freaking ad than there were to give soldiers time off), that’s the only conclusion I can come to: more than half od Senate Democrats are a bunch of rats. What other word describes people who shamelessly stab their friends in the back?

Of the candidates MoveOn endorsed and raised money for in 2006, Bob Casey and Bill Nelson returned the favor with a shiv in the nuts.

John Tester, who received $88,000 from MoveOn members, returned the favor with a stab in the back (and despite what the link says, the record shows he voted to condemn). Way to go, RAT.

Jim Webb and Claire McCaskill who owe their election in Virginia and Missouri in no small measure to MoveOn’s phone banks decided that voters like me who supported them don’t count. Thanks for the big middle finger guys: don’t come begging me for money, phone banking, or any other kind of support next time around. Y’all can go fuck yourselves.

None of these people seem to understand that MoveOn is actually made up of real live voters. It’s not some pretend think tank like American Enterprise Institute or Brookings, which have a small but vocal group of influential people who make a living by espousing a particular ideology. MoveOn members are ordinary individuals who are passionate about politics. It’s not a beltway creation: MoveOn is a highly effective tool for ordinary citizens, the majority of who are progressives and sympathetic to the Democratic Party, to make their voice heard in Congress. We don’t get paid for what we do: we volunteer because we want to change our country for the better.

And Congress just told us to go fuck ourselves. All 3,000,000 of us.

Well, fuck you too. Hope you enjoy your primaries. Go wear out your own shoe leather knocking on doors, motherfuckers.

The Johnny Cash photo should be part of your blog template.

McCaskill was all we had here with any promise. Her support for stem cell research was the overwhelming factor in her election success. The stem cell issue was a bitter and hard fought battle that still rages, even after it won at the polls. I called Claire’s office and told the lady that answered the phone that I was deeply disappointed with McCaskill’s vote against the Moveon ad and I take it as a frontal assault on all of our rights to free speech and I will not forget it in the next election. I wish I were as well versed and assertive as you Brendan, but I’m doing my best.
