Preposterous

calling bullshit, war September 14th, 2007

I watched Bush’s speech last night: talk about your stinkers, this one smelled like an incontinent dog’s ass. His delivery see-sawed between panic and dictatorial, accompanied by audible mouth breathing. On NBC-10 inphiladelphia at least, the audio feed was a little out of sync with the video, which made the “man” appear even more like the ventriloquist dummy he is as the words spilling from his mouth failed to match the shapes made by his lips.

A few observations:

#1, as Chris Matthews of all people notes, the notion that there are 36 countries fighting along side the US is a is ludicrous. It’s simply not true.

#2, what’s this “return on success” crap? The deal that would have allowed the oil-grab is collapsing. Our warlord ally in Anbar just got blown up. And Glenn Danzig is getting interviewed about his book collection (oh wait, that’s one of the signs of the apocalypse).

#3, President Bush is intent on making sure his plan for the surge is perceived as general Petraeus’ plan, again avoiding responsibility and accountability for his own failures. He repeatedly referred to “General Petraeus’ plan”, but even the corrupt shill Good General had the sense to tell Congress that he didn’t know if the escalation was making us any safer, that he’s not involved with policy, and is focused on the mission (and I use the term so loosely as to be meaningless) in Iraq.

I have a feeling I’ll be making quite a few calls today…
