More 9/11
My son’s mom worked at the World Trade Center for an IT company. After the first plane hit, she was one of many who ervacuated the building. They loaded them all on a ferry across the Hudson and sent them across the river to Jersey, where they watched the smoke pour from the towers.
But hey, Stu Bykofsky wants another one!
A few weeks before leaving for England on tour with the Essex Green, Neil Cleary and I stood on a wharf in Williamsburg and looked southwest to that big gaping hole where the towers once stood. The wharf was covered with piles of charred paper, and I think we both knew where that came from.
Motherfuckers.

My new roommate is from Poland, and during one of our first conversations we were talking about traveling overseas. My girlfriend has lived in the Czech Republic and traveled Europe extensively, and I said that I hope to make it over there soon to make up for lost time. The only time I have ever been overseas was four weeks in Ireland; I was 12, my girlfriend was moving away (she was a military brat), and I didn’t quite appreciate the experience until many, many years later.
At any rate, it wasn’t long before Jakub brought up September 11. “The world was with you guys,” he said. “There was so much sympathy and support. But now it’s different. Americans don’t do so well overseas anymore. George Bush screwed it all up.”
I couldn’t agree more.
