Bullet Points

Philadelphia, violence July 27th, 2007

It’s been mighty slow here at brendancalling lately, save for a few choice shots at Arlen Specter and a tour of my totally random sense of humor.

Part of it’s the heat and the summer doldrums, part of it’s the natural cycle of creativity, part of it… well, whatever.

Over at Philly Bits, Ray has a picture of a shell he found on Penn campus. I have a collection of spent shells and bullets as well. As always, if the sidebar cuts off the photo click to see it in a new window.

I found the two .22 shells in the street around my job in Fishtown. The mashed 9mm bullet to the left was one I found in a parking lot in West Philly. Ray found the rusty looking 9mm on the roof of my house the summer we moved in: no idea how long it had been there. I forget where I found the spent 9mm shell and the 9mm on the right. It was definitely in West Philadelphia.

The 9mm is certainly a popular firearm!

9mm on the roof? Sounds like New Years celebrating to me…

I suppose given the topic of our two posts, perhaps I should also take a picture of the Glock 9mm clip I found in the bushes across the street from my home last year.

I’ve always wondered if perhaps the gun is also lying under the leaves but I haven’t found it yet.

    Brendan-

The .22 shells look like they’re from a nailgun. .22 LR shells aren’t usually crimped and necked like that.

Was it our Mayor or Atlanta’s that said that finding spent shells in the streets didn’t mean the city had a shooting problem, but that people were throwing brass away?
