the GOP and the NAACP

bigotry, gop crime July 13th, 2007

Yesterday, the NAACP held a candidates forum. Only one GOP candidate, right-wing nativist Tom Tancredo, bothered to show up.

A picture speaks a thousand words, and the fact that this picture hasn’t appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Philadelphia Inquirer, or just about anywhere else speaks a million words, none of them good.

The modern GOP doesn’t have any use for black people. Never has, never will. That’s why they let New Orleans drown.

What were all of the people in the audience expecting? Wish there was an audio, to hear Tancredo tapping the microphone and saying “Is this thing on?”. I’ve never been the only one left on the dance floor, but it must be a real tail between the legs moment.

    I received a copy of Tancredo’s remarks!
Here they are in their entirety.

“Thank you for inviting me to the NAACP forum.
I do not hate black people. Just mexicans.
Again, thanks for the invite, and vote for Tancredo for President!”
