Why Do Chaka Fattah and Patrick Murphy Hate the Troops?

Chaka Fattah and Patrick Murphy voted to give the President a blank check on Iraq.

Thanks guys: that’s two more people I won’t be giving money to in 2008. Two more people who like to claim the mantle of “leader”, but don’t live up to the title.

Pathetic. Scared of a President with 28% approval.

What’s the difference between a Democrat and weasel?

weasel balls

The weasel actually has balls, and is known for being a tenacious fighter.

now duncan is saying he will vote against it.
so he voted for the rule but will vote against the bill? so i take it back, i think. i’m losing interest.

all the obfuscation around this isn’t helping anything. any way you slice it, they caved and they just lose whatever remnant of respect that may remain by dancing around it.

murphy voted for the rule Sirota mentioned earlier. that rule is detailed here.

“Every bill comes to the House floor with what is known as a “rule” that sets the terms of the debate over the legislation in question. House members first vote to approve this parliamentary rule, and then vote on the legislation. Today, however, Democrats are planning to essentially include the Iraq blank check bill IN the rule itself, by making sure the underlying bill the rule brings to the floor includes no timelines for withdrawal, and that the rule only allows amendments that fund the war with no restrictions – blank check amendments that House Democratic leaders know Republicans will have the votes to pass.

This means that when the public goes to look for the real vote on the Iraq supplemental bill, the public won’t find that. All we will find is a complex parliamentary procedure vote, which was the real vote.

It’s like voting YES on cloture, but NO on Alito’s confirmation. The exact same thing, and that’s what Murphy did.

edited, 10:09 AM 5/25/07: the NO got deleted and I have to correct: it’s added in bold: I take NO pleasure in calling out Pat Murphy. I like him: we’ve met personally a few times and I think he’s a nice guy. That vote, however, is wrong, the parliamentary moves to hide that vote are cowardly, and I’m not going to give anyone a pass on it. It’s a betrayal of everything we elected democrats for.

    I stand by my statement.
