More Lies from the Democrats
Remember in 2006 when the Democrats promised a return to “transparence in governance”?
“It’s time for bipartisanship, it’s time for open government, transparency, and it’s a time for results,” Reid said. “There must be a new direction in Iraq,” he said…
Well it seems that when you’re breaking your explicit promises to the American people that you’re going to end the war and refuse to send blank checks to the President, you might as well break a few more promises as well. Like those promises about transparency:
If you thought Democrats were behaving like cowards by caving into a President at a three-decade low in presidential polling and giving him the very blank check they explicitly promised not to give him during the 2006 election, you ain’t seen nothing yet. We are watching the rise of the Dick
Cheney Democrats - that is, the rise of Democrats who endorse governing in secret and hiding the public’s business from the public itself.
[snip]
Here’s how it is expected to work today in a process only Dick Cheney could love (though you never know - it could change at the last minute). Every bill comes to the House floor with what is known as a “rule” that sets the terms of the debate over the legislation in question. House members first vote to approve this parliamentary rule, and then vote on the legislation. Today, however, Democrats are planning to essentially include the Iraq blank check bill IN the rule itself, by making sure the underlying bill the rule brings to the floor includes no timelines for withdrawal, and that the rule only allows amendments that fund the war with no restrictions - blank check amendments that House Democratic leaders know Republicans will have the votes to pass. This means that when the public goes to look for the real vote on the Iraq supplemental bill, the public won’t find that. All we will find is a complex parliamentary procedure vote, which was the real vote.
[snip]If this secretive behavior seems familiar, it should. You may recall that in the past two weeks, the same Democratic leadership that is now trying to hide its votes on Iraq negotiated a secret free trade deal with the White House, steamrolling its other key Election 2006 pledge to stop lobbyist-written trade policy. The legislative texts of the trade pacts in question remain concealed from the public, though K Street lobbyists have told reporters they have received “assurances” that any of the much-touted provisions that purport to protect labor and the environment will be written to be unenforceable.
Read the whole thing, and then consider doing what i did today: I called up the DNC and asked to be removed from their mailing list. Later this week, I re-register as an Independent.
Elections have consequences all right: and one of those consequences is that you gots to dance with who brung you.
And while I’ll still be accepting blog-ads from the Democratic Party, I will be explicitly encouraging my readers not to donate time, money, or energy to any Democrats running for national office. Not one.

Brendan already read this in an email titled “Chimp logic”, but I feel it needs to be publicly aired. I wrote this yesterday at around 11:30 a.m. This was my honest-to-goodness reaction to what it was like hearing the Retard-In-Chief as I was waking up:
“Within the past half-hour, I woke up on the couch very slowly to George doing his latest speech live on MSNBC and it’s soo fucking disorienting. Where am I? What planet am I on? Is this some future shock Romper Room? Who is this talking? Oh, noooooo, that’s our presi….
Listening to him string together his words is like watching a chimp play with refrigerator magnets. He is practically counting on his fingers. “We need more crayons. Here’s why. One…” He is whining. He is lying. He is talking about everything. He is over his head. He is drowning. He is insane. He is certifiably retarded.
He should be locked up.
Now the pundits are calling his speech “pretty powerful.” WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I give up on this country. I am fucking DONE.”
Now, I wrote this completely ignorant of the cowardly, disgraceful actions that were happening on the other (supposedly smarter) side of the aisle. I now fucking HATE every Democrat in office. I want to leave this country. I want nothing to do with it. This is not democracy. This is not leadership. While I know there is a certain amount of compromise that is involved in being in politics, the raw, naked betrayal that the Democrats we voted in displayed by rolling over on this open-ended bloodbath is unforgiveable and treasonous. Where are their balls? Where are their souls? Who replaced their spines with rubber?
I really wish I could agree with the right wing, because as much as I hate them, at least they have the fucking backbone to STAND UP FOR THE FUCKED UP SHIT THAT THEY BELIEVE IN, FUTURE PROMISES OF RE-ELECTION BE DAMNED.
Note to Democrats: even though you won this time, you have already fucking lost, and the blood is now on YOUR hands. You do NOT know how to lead, and you do not deserve to be in office. You got my vote, but it is horribly clear that you do not represent me or anybody with half a conscience. Fuck you, fuck your career, and fuck everything that you have done at the expense of American human lives. I hope you all die — miserably and painfully and in a protracted way — knowing that you are nothing but failures.
How frightening is it that the worst excuses for American human beings are the only ones with any GUTS?!?!? I wish I could join them. I really do. But I can’t, because they are wrong about everything. And now, I am lost. As are the vast majority of people in this country who made the mistake of voting the Dem ticket. Life was horrible enough, but now we have to stomach the fact that we all have been fooled, once again, by your empty, empty promises. The words that came out of your mouths leading up to last November are worth nothing. Nothing at all.
