I have two crystal clear memories regarding musical tastes. The earliest one, walking into my older brother’s bedroom and hearing Neil Young’s album “After the Gold Rush” and knowing, even at the age of 11 that this was good music. And then several years later, traveling somewhere with my Dad, listening to country music radio and realizing that this is really good music. Of course that was all in the 70’s so the country music on the radio WAS really good music. These two moments really define my music tastes. Thanks Brendan for the excellent Waylon clips.

Neil Young was the first rock n roll voice that made me flip out. I was about 11 myself, and just getting into AC/DC. Neil’s whine on “Hey Hey My My” (electric) was like a million volts up my back, especially on top of these ridiculously distorted guitars.
