Waiting On Brett

This post by Howie Klein is required reading. He blows my “Specter Knew” thesis to shreds: Booman, I owe you a beer. So who’s Tolman? He was Specter’s counsel on the Judiciary Committee, a holdover from the Hatch chairmanship that Arlen kept on. But it’s mroe than that:

Tolman was a counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee when they were reauthorizing the so-called “Patriot Act” in 2005-06. He reported to Snarlin’ Arlen — or at least that is what Specter believed. Specter was unaware of the Bush Regime’s tight-knit “Mormon Mafia” operated by Karl Rove at the heart of the U.S. government. He learned the hard way.

According to Klein, Specter never knew, and it is the sheer embarrassment that has prevented anyone from hauling Tolman’s ass in to testify.

I think that time should be up. I will be calling Mr. Specter tomorrow at 202-224-4254, to point out that he is being made a fool of again and to argue for Tolman’s testimony. More importantly, I will be calling the increasingly more impatient Chairman, Senator Leahy, at 202-224-4242 to also recommend this action. I suggest you do the same.

Does it scare anyone that staffers can go about inserting things into legislation willy nilly? I don’t want to dive into the pool o’ hyperbole, but really, isn’t it possible for some real Manchurian Candidate crap to take place when stuff like this is allowed to happen?

Maybe someone could insert language into the next omnibus that outlaws the republican party because it is really just a crime syndicate.

    oh I jest.
