One Wrong Word

letters, media, war March 14th, 2007

There is one wrong word in this letter to the New York Times. See if you can figure it out:

To the Editor:

How can this be America? How can we fail to give good care to those who served America?

My heart goes out to every soldier who is living with a brain injury caused by this war and to the families that must fight to get care for them. I hope that one day President Bush understands what he has done to our country.

Did you get the answer? Which word is wrong? The answer’s in comments.

The incorrect word is “understands”, which should be repaced with “pays for”

  2. the lovely christina Says:

I don’t know. I think chimps are capable of understanding on some level, but you are correct. I doubt he is ever truly cognizant of the depth of the hell he has created.

  3. Brendan Says:

i think you miss the point a bit. I’m not questioning whether Bush “understands”. I’m sure he does. But whether his eventual “understanding” doesn’t concern me: I want him to pay for what he’s done.
