David Broder: Hack, or Simply Senile?

hack, media, plain pitiful, politics February 6th, 2007

Writing the following piece of crap in the Washington Post, David Broder got called out as a liar by Oliver Willis, who witnessed the meeting Broder writes about, and Americablog, and listed as wanker of the day by Atrio.

One of the losers in the weekend oratorical marathon was retired Gen. Wesley Clark, who repeatedly invoked the West Point motto of “Duty, Honor, Country,” forgetting that few in this particular audience have much experience with, or sympathy for, the military.

Well, I don’t know. Is Broder spewing filthy lies, as Willis claims, or is he just simply too old and senile to have a firm grasp on reality? The guy’s pushing 80, for crying out loud (Ronald Reagan was diagnosed at 83, and suspected of having Alzheimer’s for a long time before doctors confirmed he had the disease). He only discovered the Internets last year, and had a hissy-fit over liberal blogs that are “heavier on vituperation of President Bush and other targets than on creative thought.”

Here’s a recent picture of David Broder:

If Bill Frist can diagnose Terri Schiavo by video, even though he’s not a neurosurgeon, then I am just as qualified to diagnose David Broder. And that photo, my friends, is of a man so senile he has to wear a bib to keep the drool from spilling all over his tie.

“Apologize”? No. Broder should “retire”.
