Thomas Paine
Byl offers a qutoe from Thomas Paine. Little known fact: Paine named our country. He was the first to call our chunk of soil The United States.
He was a free-thinker, a deist, and a revolutionary. He printed Common Sense, the pamphlet that did so much to encourage the Revolution right here in Philadelphia, at 3rd and Walnut Streets. He was imprioned, and nearly executed, during the French Revolution. Paine died in poverty, his funeral attended by 6 mourners.
Without the context, I have no idea what Paine’s quote at Byl’s blog refers to. However, for your enjoyment and education, here’s the complete text of Common Sense.
PS: have you called your Senator to Stop Specter?
