Friday Fleshtones: Beautiful Light
bonus clip:
Holy Diver, by Ronnie. James. Motherfuckin’. DIO.
Tell me you’re not banging your head to Ronnie’s soulful gibberish.
He’s got the sword out too.
Update: I fucking LOVE the cardboard cutout demon, almost as much as the flames behind Ronnie-as-Conan.
Am I being snarky? yeah a little, but it is true that I totally love Dio. I just recognize that it’s silly.
Update 2: The Fleshtones are playing the TLA in Philly in Spetember, with The Zombies, the Mooney Suzuki, and The Woggles. It’s at the Borgata earlier that week, so I have to figure it’s a Little Steven production. I cannot speak more highly of the Fleshtones. they are one of my favorite bands of all time. There is, in my opinion, NO BETTER ROCK AND ROLL BAND. These guys should be playing with the Stones, they’re that good. They’ve been rocking it since 1976, underappreciated at home, but rock-n-roll icons in Europe. And who can argue with the Zombies or the Monney Suzuki?
Go. If you like the sounds from the Friday Night Fleshtones series, you will so fucking dig these guys live.
They were also one of the last bands to play at the top of the World Trade Center.

Man. I haven’t seen a Dio video for years.
It brings me back to high school, when all I did was work, play D&D and listen to metal in my unreliable Triumph.
I’ve lost all my old metal tapes- the stuff I can admit without embarrassment- the Ozzy, AC/DC and Judas Priest. Stuff like Dio and Twisted Sister is something of a guilty pleasure.

I have no shame at all about my love for metal, or hardcore for that matter, especially the 1980s stuff.
wait til I find some Maiden videos.
